Fishing Report
Wow, is all I can say about this winters past, but lets move on to
Spring. History will remind us and serve us well to reflect on last year.
While the Boulder Basin diehards stuck to their familiar fishing grounds,
a few people took the long bumpy road to Echo Bay and tried their luck in
the fertile waters of the North Lake. For the most part it paid dividends,
although there were some good bags brought in from this side as well.
If you are thinking about exploring around the Lake, please use caution.
There are still a lot of unmarked hazards out there. I like to scout out
an area during the day and mark my pathways for night time traveling.
The threadfin shad will be spawning as well as the linesides. Locate
this activity and you should get on some good biters.
Top water promises to be outstanding as well as crankbaits on the points
and in shallow coves. For the shore fisherman, the fishing will be epic
if you find spawning shad. One of my all time favorite topwater baits for
this time of year is the jumpin minnow. 33 hole, Government, and 8 mile
should be good bets. The beach will have its moments as well. Please
don't think I forgot about dead bait. It has been and will always be the
most consistant method to catchfish on Lake Mead. Chum and they will come.
Good Luck to everyone this new fishing season and please be careful out
there. Boating safety is our main priority for all anglers and pleasure
boaters on the Lake. Fish hard, try new things, and you will succeed.
